This will be my first visit to this asylum so those joining me will be receiving this workshop at a discounted price. It will sell for $250.00 after the first trip. We will not be photographing in any of the "Haunted House" areas as that does not appeal to me at all. This workshop has a minimum of 15.

There is a whole other world out there that we live in, but cannot see, and can only be seen when captured using an altered camera, extreme density filters, and software voodoo. Photographing things we cannot see is thrilling. Tony will illustrate and delve into, as much as possible in 45 minutes, the worlds of very long exposure photography, movement, traditional and color infrared photography.

About the castle:
After the Spanish-American War, arms merchant Francis Bannerman bought 90 percent of the U.S. Army's decommissioned weapons. Bannerman then constructed an arsenal on an island in the Hudson River. Built in the style of a Scottish castle, the arsenal featured a gateway once outfitted with a drawbridge. Long neglected and devastated by fire in 1969, the castle is now the focus of local preservation efforts.

Join me for my fourth workshop at the Lonaconing Silk Mill in Maryland. I have chosen to return again in August because I don't want to wait for another winter to pass as the roof is in bad shape. The owner of the mill is looking into funding for the roof and if that happens then all will be good. I just don't want to chance it as there is still so much to uncover at the silk mill... We will photograph on Saturday August 3rd from 1:00pm till 5:00pm inside the mill, then outside of the mill till 6pm. During the pizza party I will spend time sharing some of my images and post-processing tips with the group, I will also be offering image critiques for those who want to share some of their images from the day. This will aid us all in seeing different views, perspectives, etc.. Sunday morning at 9am we will head back out to the Silk Mill to capture all of those images that we missed. :) This will give us one full afternoon and one full morning to photograph. The Lonaconing Silk Mill or aka the Klotz Throwing Company is located in Lonaconing, Maryland within the National Lonaconing Historic District along the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad’s mainline. It is the last intact silk mill in the United States and was in operation from 1907-1957. Initially, silk was imported from Japan and China and the factory produced silk thread. During World War II that changed to rayon. The mill shut down operation in 1957 and has fallen into disrepair. The owner of the silk mill is trying to raise money to restore the mill and he allows photographers to enter the dilapidated building for a fee. After speaking with the owner the opportunity to photograph here may be lost forever if he is forced to sell.

A Creative Adventure/BIRDS AS ART Swan Island Dahlia Farm Instructional Photo-Tour, September 11-15, 2013: 5 FULL DAYS: $1649
Join Denise Ippolito and Arthur Morris at the Swan Island Dahlia Farm in Canby Oregon (just south of Portland) for a great learning and photography experience. Swan Island features more than 40 acres with over 350 varieties of dahlias in a plethora of colors, shapes and sizes, making it one of the largest growers in the United States.
Daily Photo Schedule
We will enjoy four morning (7:00am till 10:30am) and five afternoon (3:30pm till 6pm) photography sessions. While we will do most of our photography at the Swan Island Dahlia Farm, we will also visit the Portland Rose Garden and/or the Portland Japanese Garden on this IPT. The in-the-field instruction will include seeing the situation, the use of selective focus, creative use of depth of field, histogram and exposure guidance, designing creative images, choosing your background, isolating your subject, lens options, and the use of reflectors and diffusers. Our field sessions will include challenging photography assignments geared to make you think creatively. Both personalized and small group instruction will be provided.
Seminar Morning: Friday, September 13: 8:30am till 12:30pm.
Denise will begin by presenting her "Bloomin’ Ideas" program, an overview of the in-the-field and post-processing techniques that she has used and developed over the past few years to create her signature look. Artie will follow with a Photoshop session that will be geared towards all levels. He'll be sharing some of his favorite techniques and tips while working on images from the first two days of the IPT. Denise will conclude the seminar portion of the IPT with a Photoshop demo; she will share her creative workflow using a variety of Photoshop filters and effects. The entire morning is designed to give you a peek into the minds of two very skilled and creative folks.

Join Denise Ippolito and Arthur Morris at the Swan Island Dahlia Farm in Canby Oregon (just south of Portland) for a great learning and photography experience. Swan Island features more than 40 acres with over 350 varieties of dahlias in a plethora of colors, shapes and sizes, making it one of the largest growers in the United States.
Daily Photo Schedule
We will enjoy four morning (7:00am till 10:30am) and five afternoon (3:30pm till 6pm) photography sessions. While we will do most of our photography at the Swan Island Dahlia Farm, we will also visit the Portland Rose Garden and/or the Portland Japanese Garden on this IPT. The in-the-field instruction will include seeing the situation, the use of selective focus, creative use of depth of field, histogram and exposure guidance, designing creative images, choosing your background, isolating your subject, lens options, and the use of reflectors and diffusers. Our field sessions will include challenging photography assignments geared to make you think creatively. Both personalized and small group instruction will be provided.
Seminar Morning: Friday, September 13: 8:30am till 12:30pm.
Denise will begin by presenting her "Bloomin’ Ideas" program, an overview of the in-the-field and post-processing techniques that she has used and developed over the past few years to create her signature look. Artie will follow with a Photoshop session that will be geared towards all levels. He'll be sharing some of his favorite techniques and tips while working on images from the first two days of the IPT. Denise will conclude the seminar portion of the IPT with a Photoshop demo; she will share her creative workflow using a variety of Photoshop filters and effects. The entire morning is designed to give you a peek into the minds of two very skilled and creative folks.

Old Car City Creative Photography In-the-Field HDR Workshop: Sunday, October 13, 2013/ 9am till 1pm. White, Georgia: $250 plus a $15 entrance fee donation (cash only on the day of the event) that will go to charity. Limit: 16 photographers.
On October 13, 2013, Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART and Denise Ippolito/A Creative Adventure will be conducting an In-the-Field HDR Workshop at Old Car City in White, Georgia. Old Car City is about an hour north of Atlanta, GA and an hour south of Chattanooga, TN where they will be doing a full day seminar for the Photographic Society of Chattanooga on Saturday, October 12th.
We are both very excited about photographing at this new location which boasts 4,500 old cars on 34 acres mostly along wooded trails. The property is usually closed on Sundays but the owner is graciously allowing two small groups private access that day; we are thrilled to be one of them!
Bring your tripod and a variety of lenses from fish eye through 70-200mm at least. Folks who assemble their HDR images on their computers will learn the steps needed to create the very best originals. Folks using Canon or Nikon cameras that create in-camera HDRs will receive guidance as to exactly how best to do that. Folks with the Canon 5D Mark III will learn our favorite in-camera HDR settings. All will receive in-the-field guidance on seeing the situation, choosing the best perspective, image design and composition, setting up their gear, and getting the right exposure. Bring your old jeans and dirty sneakers and prepare to roll up your sleeves!

Join me for 4 full days of photography at Bosque del Apache, NM. I have co-led three Birds As Art workshops with Arthur Morris at Bosque in the past. This workshop will be geared towards flight photography & creative photography. I’d like to get you beyond the “regular shots” that are so common at Bosque and get you thinking of ways to make your images stand out from the crowd. Emphasis will be on using the amazing sky colors that are a Bosque hallmark to our advantage.
Action, action-we want action! Yes, we do! However missing those shots over and over again can be frustrating. Nothing is more exhilarating then capturing a Sandhill Crane coming in for a landing with beautiful last light. Let me get you into position and help you with your camera settings.
Our goal will be to capture the gorgeous morning sunrise colors and the beautiful sunsets of Bosque and everything in between! We will experiment with a variety of techniques and shutter speeds; creating everything from pleasing blast-off blurs to tack sharp flight shots.
Schedule:
Thursday November 21st – Afternoon/evening shoot. Slide program/Lecture.
Friday November 22nd – Early morning/ morning shoot, BREAK, informal laptop session, afternoon/evening shoot, dinner with the group.
Saturday November 23rd- Early morning/morning shoot, Photoshop session & pizza with the group, late afternoon shoot.
Sunday November 24th- Early morning / morning shoot, BREAK, afternoon/evening shoot, dinner with the group and image critiques.
Monday November 25th- Early morning shoot before heading home.
A total of 8 shooting sessions, 2 dinners & 1 lunch with the group, Photoshop session with image optimization, individual image critiques. Schedule is subject to change depending on conditions, wind and weather.
Individual attention will be paramount.

Participants are expected to have a working knowledge of their equipment including but not limited to exposure, f-stops and shutterspeed.
A 50% deposit is required to confirm your registration.
The full balance is due 60 days prior to the start of the workshop.
My Cancellation Policy: Deposit and balance paid will be fully refunded if cancellation is made prior to 60 days before the workshop start date and your slot is filled. No refunds will be given if cancellation is made less than 60 days before the workshop start date. I reserve the right to bring additional clients along on any workshop.
I am available for private one, two and three day workshops. My rate is $750.00 per day and that will include two shooting sessions and one laptop session per day. My travel expenses and lodging if applicable will be priced accordingly.
I am offering afternoon workshops for camera clubs and other groups. These are 3-4 hour hands-on workshops at a location near your club. The workshop would be conducted on a Saturday or Sunday and would require a 10 person minimum. Entrance fees to the location would be separate and not included in my fees. Travel expenses and lodging for Out of State Clubs will be priced accordingly.

I enjoyed the workshop and can think of several things that I will definitely need to get going to try on my own. Such as the in camera high key, the matte prints for quick “fake” backgrounds, tips on using fractalius. It may have been nice to get to other areas in the gardens but with only 3 hours there is only so much ground that can be cover and you kept things moving. You and Denise make a good team. Both of you got everyone involved and gave them chances to get the image.
I believe the price point and number of participants of the workshop was reasonable.
If you and Denise each have mailing lists please add my address to both of them, as I would attend another workshop with either of you.

I really did learn so much more this trip, although maybe it’s just taken longer for it to sink into my thick skull! Canon Everglades Workshop
Denise Ippolito was a huge help. We dealt with pretty much every imaginable problem in a span of four hours. As always, the folks that stayed close to Denise and to me and asked lots of questions learned the most. It was Denise who actually led most of the group into the field well before sunrise while I stayed behind dealing with a variety of tripod, tripod head, and plate issues.
